Hi there, now we are going to present the best tutorials to learn and use the emulator GNS3, a free software. This emulator is a graphic network software that allows you to design complex networking topologies and run simulations over them. With GNS3 you can test, visualize, plan and troubleshoot any kind of network across any vendor platforms at scale. In other words, you are able to represent real network environments over this emulator.
Why is GNS3 called "EMULATOR"?
It is used the word "emulator" instead of "simulator" for GNS3 due to this program is running an actual network operating system, for instance to get routers cisco running, you need to have the real cisco IOS image, the same one that physical routers use to work. (Whereas packet tracer only simulates the cisco IOS, that is why is just a simulator). If you want to use other networking devices from different vendors, you need their real operating system images to get them running in GNS3.

Once we know what GNS3 is, it is time to start learning how to use this emulator. Mostly networking learners in an advance level like CCNP, CCIE, etc use this program to do their Labs practices, but a CCNA student can also use this program, since offers some features that packet tracer does not have, for example the MPPP protocol. So actually every student needs to learn GNS3 in order to get a good experience doing from basic to advance network laboratories.
But what are those tutorials to learn GNS3?
To present them we are going to enumerate the tutorials and give a brief description about it and the link to the website.
To present them we are going to enumerate the tutorials and give a brief description about it and the link to the website.
1. UDEMY: Udemy is a platform where there are a lot of courses about whatever you can imaging, most of them are paid courses and the rest is free. Here there are some courses teaching GNS3, and one of the courses to learn this program from scratch is the one called: "Build your own networking learning environment on GNS3", that means that you are going to learn how to install, the basic configurations, how to set up the network devices, to include into the emulator the real operating systems and so on. All of these thing to have GNS3 ready to do any network LAB.The only previous step to do is to create an account in Udemy, which is free, and start the course. The good thing is that at the end of the course you will receive a certificate. You can go to the website on the following link:
2. INEtraining: Now we present one of the best youtube channel which is for students who want to learn GNS3 from scratch, because this tutorial begins teaching the necessary concepts to understand every aspect of this emulator and how you can start using it to practice CCNA, CCNP, and so on. So this is a good step-by-step guide to know all about GNS3. The channel called "INEtraining" has 31 videos to explain you how to deal with this program and many other interesting aspects about. The link to the channel is:
3. David Bombal: In this youtube channel called: "David Bombal" besides the packet tracer tutorials, you will also find excellent GNS3 tutorials, you can start from a beginning level to an advanced level. This videos will explain you how to install the program, even what to do when GNS3 installation issues, until see advance laboratories with CCNP concepts and some pieces of advice about how to use the emulator if you explore the lists of reproduction in the channel. So this tutorial is also one of the best and you cannot miss it. You can start watching the videos here:
4. GNS3 Tutorial: Another good tutorial is the youtube channel called "GNS3 Tutorial", which is dedicated only to teach aspect of this networking emulator. It has 18 videos where you are going to find the way to configure GNS3, how to configure the network devices, and overall the basics aspects that a CCNA student needs to know to do Lab practices. You can follow all the steps shown in the videos easily. To go to the tutorial follow the link:
5. GNS3 VAULT: This website has tutorials designed for intermediate and advance GNS3 users, and you need to have GNS3 installed already. On this website you will find videos ordered by category explaining how to configure the network devices to create an specific networking scenario, over one topic (It could be switching, static routing, security, etc). So this tutorials are very good to learn how to simulate specific Labs from CCNA, CCNP or CCIE and practice them. The link to begin these tutorials is the following:
